We Love Actors
I want to make it clear: casting directors love actors. We could not do what we do without you. I'm in the middle of casting a pilot right now (pilots being the first episode of a TV series that gets made to see if the studio wants to pick the show up and put it on the air). Casting a pilot is an intense amount of work squeezed into a narrow time frame. I was really stressed this week because I didn't have the luxury of letting actors read the scenes more than one time through. When I smiled and said thank you, it felt hollow, because I felt the pressure of getting to the next actor and then returning the 75 calls that went unanswered from the day before. So please remember that we love you. It's a crazy process, casting a pilot. Even if my smile is fleeting, it's my way of showing appreciation for the work that you did for me, and of reminding you to have a great day.

75 unanswered calls. wow. Everyone on here constantly tells you what a great guy you are, empathetic and down to earth. Its NOT just kiss arse. The proof is in the blogs. Thank you for your CONSTANT encouragement and advice. Kindness goes a lot further than we know.
ReplyDeleteHi Mr. Middleton, Thank you for your blog it has really useful information and thanks for actually taking the time to keep it up to date. Okay so I know from reading your blog that you are an exceedingly busy man. But I had to tell you or ask; If you are ever not as busy and looking for talent you could probably go to one of the John Robert Powers School's and you can always find talent there. I go to JRP Houston, Texas and we have agents and casting directors coming in all the time, we just had Susie Mains come and we also had Corbin Bronson audition kids and thankfully I got a callback. My goal in acting is to become a successful actor and through J.R.P. I feel much closer to reaching my goal and less stressed about how I'll get there because I know I will. Just a suggestion but I know we'd all love to have you and I'd love to audition for you.
ReplyDeleteThanks for you time I know it's truly valuable.
and we love casting directors....we both need each other i guess, its the circle of life, well at least the circle of getting hired.
